We are here by God’s appointment… for such a time as this (Esther 4:14). Jesus wants us, His followers, to be in the world, but not of the world (John 17:15-18). 

While in the world, He wants us to impact the world We are to be the salt that helps prevent corruption. We are to be the salt that encourages others to thirst for Christ. We are to be the light that helps people walk out of the darkness. We are to be the light that points others to Christ (Matthew 5:13-16)!

What an amazing opportunity. We are ambassadors for Christ (2 Cor. 5:20). What an amazing calling! We can make a difference in our world! Don’t be overcome by evil, but rather, overcome evil with good (Romans 12:21)! 

The Christian life is like swimming upstream in a flowing river. If we stop swimming, we will go downstream! We cannot be neutral. If we are not actively promoting the cause of Christ, then we are hindering the cause of Christ (Mt 12:30). We must act! We must impact this world with the salt of our actions, and we must impact this world by the light of our words. And remember, it is our actions that give weight to our words. When I was in high school, my pastor (Pastor Norm Adamson) said, “Every man is either a missionary or a mission field.” I love that quote. It is right on target. You either are serving Christ as a missionary, or you need a missionary to: 1) come alongside you as an unbeliever to share the gospel or 2) come alongside you as a believer to stimulate you to love and good works!  

Let’s be effective ambassadors for Christ. There is no higher calling. Let’s let the world see Christ in us. People need the Lord! Let’s let the world find hope and help in Christ through us.
